Hello $wanigans! Happy holidays to everyone. I’m taking today off from the normal personal finance agenda. I hope you are taking the day off as well and enjoying time with family and friends.
I’m back home in the Midwest celebrating Christmas with the family and also seeing a couple long-time friends while we are back. Since we live so far from our families, when we do go home we like to make it a big tour to see everyone. And it is truly a big tour as everyone lives in different cities including both sets of parents, Lucy’s grandma (her only remaining grandparent), my grandma (my only remaining grandparent), and others spread out as well.
It is a lot of travel, truly a planes trains and automobiles type of a week. But it is always great to see everyone and everyone enjoys seeing and spending time with our little one.
And now that Lucy is pregnant again, I’m sure she will get more than a few of those awkward belly rubs from extended family (editor note: half way through our trip she has had a couple good belly rubs…)! It’s hilarious for me to sit back and watch as those moments unfold, just laughing on the inside as there is not much Lucy can do about it.
The other thing I always look forward to is our annual snow football game among me and my three brothers. It is two on two tackle football in the snow. Some may say we are getting too old for this nonsense, but it is a great way to burn a few calories and rile up the competitive spirits!
It is usually all fun and games and tackling in the snow is generally pain free, but we’ve had more than a few occasions were momentum takes the tackle into the fence or onto a hidden rock pile under the snow. More often than not there is some blood spilled, but it is still pretty harmless. That reminds me, I should double check Lucy packed my health insurance card…
Anyway, I hope you too have been enjoying the holiday break and that Santa got you everything you asked for!
Thanks for taking a look!
